Research update

This research update contains information on research being undertaken connecting Christianity to animal ethics, as well as an update on the RE Teachers and Character Project. The first article discusses the work of Professor Clough at the University of Chester, which has a particular focus on animals and Christianity. This work, I feel, would be particularly useful not only for Key Stage 3 curriculums but also for those who are teaching GCSE, as there are some nice links to the themes papers. The second article provides a final update on the research that was undertaken at the Jubilee Centre for Character and Virtues at the University of Birmingham. It provides a short overview of the main findings surrounding RE teachers’ perspectives on character education. In particular, it gives important insights on how the setting one finds oneself teaching within influences discussions surrounding this topic area.
