‘Sacrificing the Bible?’ The contested place of the Bible in examined RS

Following almost 30 years as an RE teacher, department head, senior lecturer and PGCE course director, Lynda Maddock is now the Subject Officer for GCSE RS at the WJEC (and Eduqas in England). She holds an undergraduate degree in Divinity and a master’s degree in Theology (New Testament Studies), and is studying for a PhD at the University of Bristol. Her research is centred on the place of the New Testament in the public examinations sat at the end of compulsory schooling at the time of the 1944 and 1988 Education Reform Acts
