Good learning from our yesterdays: religion and history

This crowdsourced article poses the question: what does great RE look like on the frontier with history? There are all kinds of good reasons to link RE and history, and in some ways RE needs the disciplines of history to study the ‘how and why’ of religions and worldviews in their current manifestations: where did that all come from? So we asked some teachers who work on and across
this frontier to describe some of their favourite and best examples. Too much work on this frontier is superficial, neither good RE nor good history. So read these, and tremble at their quality, but also consider: how are you linking the study of religions with the study of their past? What are the features of best practice here?
Thanks to all the teachers who took the time to contribute.
